A flower arrangement, not some foodie dish. I thought it would be a good idea to buy a bunch of peonies before their season ended. And I couldn’t resist the kale. The arrangement looks bright and perky on this melancholy, humid, drizzly day.

But since I got them at the farmers’ market, where everything comes from within 100 miles or so of San Francisco, they’re probably very terrestrial.
