Week 41: Two-color screenprint on linen.
Hello, winter collection! It feels a bit odd to talk about winter right now, when San Francisco is finally experiencing real summer weather. It’s like this every year; we suffer through three months of dreary summer fog, rejoice when the sun comes out and the heat cranks up at the send of September. We live outside for those three weeks, knowing that by October 15th, we’ll be sick of the heat. Then we start talking about rain (which we desperately need, by the way), get out the sweaters that we stored during our three weeks of summer, and start preparing for winter.
I’m slowly finishing my winter collection – everything should be ready by the 27th. Since my studio seems to have shrunk in the past two weeks, thanks to my new screens, it’s a lot harder to get work done in it. I may have to retreat to the Big Studio, with its huge drying racks, its flash dryer, and (most importantly) its ample space, this week to crank out the last bits of work. I’m so excited to share the rest of this new collection with you. When it gets done. Which will be soon. Really.
