I’ve lived two blocks away from Golden Gate Park for almost 20 years (!). I never get tired of of hanging out in this very special “backyard.” Gus and I walk in the park every morning and, as soon as Daylight Savings starts, every evening.
It’s a lovely, peaceful walk most days. The light, filtered through redwood and eucalyptus trees, is incredible. In the spring, the scent of azaleas, roses and jasmine fills certain pockets of the park. I don’t usually seek inspiration in the park, but I do find the quiet I regularly need. Silence is so crucial to my creative practice. My walks are a daily mini-retreat.
I could never take this place for granted. Where do you go when you need a mini-break?
