I wrote earlier about LA’s love affair with gates. I thought it would be fun to show what’s on both sides of the gates that bound my parents’ LA neighborhood.
Within the gated community:

I ventured outside the gates and bought a pack of freshly-made, blue corn tortillas. They were still hot. I also got a bad of chapulines (grasshoppers). Thankfully, they were already dead, cooked and seasoned.
If I weren’t so full, I would have stopped at the taco truck. Next time…
