Click on the photo to see the detail. Horribly out of focus, but you get the picture… I’m almost finished with the topstitching on the muslin section. Honestly, I have fabric fatigue right now and think I’ll use Sunday to rest (well, and to see my friends, too).

It is dreary outside right now – I’m not sure if it’s heavy fog or actual drizzle (or if there’s actually a difference between the two). These flowers remind me that it is, indeed, summer, even if it feels like January.

Many years ago, I had a boyfriend who often complained about the general frumpiness – turtlenecks, long skirts, flat shoes, thick glasses – of my clothing. Day 1: squares cut and sewn together, birds cut and pinned on. Day 2: birds hand-sewn on I finished sewing a dress – the first piece of clothing I’ve made in almost 20 years. And, well, it looks like a home ec project. It’s wearable and even flattering, but I’m not ready to reveal it
