A creative detour

I want to do something new. I’m not sure what yet, but I’m ready for a change. I had a couple of disappointing shows this summer, and I’m feeling a bit burned out on fashion prints. I’m taking these as signs that it’s time to change direction a bit.

So, I’ve decided to take a creative detour. For the next two weeks, I’m going to do whatever I want creatively without thinking about how much time goes into my work, without worrying whether whatever I create will sell. I’m just going to make stuff.

I’ve resisted this break for so long. I mean, I quit my job a few weeks ago so I could take some time to focus on my art, with the end goal of making a living from it. But I’m not making a living from it (yet), so why not just do whatever I want (creatively) for a bit and not make a living from that?

I have no clue where this detour will take me. It’s a bit scary – and also really liberating. I need this time “off” to get unstuck.
