There are some massive changes going on in my life right now. It’s so easy for me to zoom past everything else, or get so focused on what I need to do to keep moving forward, that I forget to notice the details.
This weekend, I read Susannah Conway’s book, This I Know. I haven’t just sat down and read a book in a while, so this was a huge treat. One of the exercises she suggests is chronicling your day through photos. I chose Sunday, the first day back on Pacific Standard Time, to take a time out from my increasingly-hectic life and take photos of anything I felt like taking.
I felt truly present for first time in a long while. I noticed things about my neighborhood – the sign on top of my neighborhood’s community board, for example – that I’d never seen before. I paid attention to textures, colors, light. It was a good day.
