What litters your neighborhood? I can tell you what litters mine – coffee and cigarettes.
My friend Dan once pointed out that the litter that you see on the side of the 5 freeway, when driving to or from LA, is predominantly made up of fast food wrappers. I don’t normally see discarded fast food wrappers in my neighborhood, but that’s probably because there aren’t any fast food joints around here.
The big similarity between coffee cups, cigarettes, burger wrappers and supersize cups is their disposability. The things that we don’t put a lot of thought into consuming are the things that we don’t put a lot of thought into disposing.
This almost made it into the trash. Almost.
After reading this post, you’ll probably start seeing trash everywhere.
